What I did, was buy two straw hats, and I put a piece of wire in the top for the weird point, then covered it all in papermache(several, several layers), painted it white after the macheing was all done, and then painted it blue where it needed to be blue, and THEN glued paper strips for the stitches where they needed to go.
I just don't have enough paint to finish the undersides of the hat completely. xD
(yeah, the bottom of the hats aren't completely painted. >< )
